Name of Pub: The Widow's Son
Location: London
Book Featured: Part I

Summary:
According to sources, a widow once lived here with her son back when it was originally a house. Since becoming a pub, it is now known amongst the locals as the "Bun House" because of a tale going back 170 years. The Legend of the Widow’s Son tells the story of the widow's only son, a sailor that left to go to sea and planned to come back at Easter. In anticipation of his homecoming, she saved him a hot cross bun but unfortunately he never returned. For the rest of her life, she hung up a bun every Good Friday should he ever return home. Since her death, this tradition has continued and every year, a sailor visits the pub to add a new bun to the collection. Inside The Widow's Son, the buns can now be seen hanging above the bar.
